It was a great weekend for Ram Wrestling. TJ Nutt and Jace Henderson both ended up dominating their last matches and placing 5th while Kolby Scott won his finals match in dramatic fashion by pinning the 5th ranked wrestler in class 2A. The team placed 11th overall.

The girls played extremely well last night and came away with a 61-47 win over Lawton Bronson. The team was supported by an awesome ESPN themed student section.
Sophomore Trista Ohlmeier had a tremendous game recording a triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 blocks. The 11 blocks is a new school record. Coach Dose's first experience having a player record a triple-double after coaching for 15 years and having some great players along the way. Congratulations Trista! Good luck with your upcoming games, Rams!
Yesterday the students Food Science completed their cutting lab. All veggies cut will be made into Beef Stew or Chicken Tortellini Soup!!
The Ram Wrestling team had a great weekend at the Western Valley Conference meet in Ida Grove.
TJ Nutt (132), Kolby Scott (195) and Jace Henderson (285) all took home the conference title. Additionally, Lane Hanke placed 2nd and Thomas Sisco & Ryan Brenner placed 3rd. Congratulations!

Mrs. Green's 2nd grade class had fun practicing their spelling words in shaving cream this week!
On Tuesday, the MVAOCOU High School Pep Band invited alumni to play with them at the home basketball game against the Ridge View Raptors. The band sounded amazing and a great time was had by all involved!
On Saturday, January 7th, the MVAOCOU JV and Varsity Girls Basketball Teams defeated the OABCIG Falcons on their home court. The highlight of the night was Sophomore Makynlee Yockey broke the school record for most 3 pointers made in a game. She knocked down 8 vs the Falcons!

The students in the Mapleton Elementary building took part in the 2nd quarter Reading Celebration on Friday, January 6th. To begin the assembly, the first grade students, under the direction of Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. VerMeys, entertained the audience with their rendition of "There was a cold lady who swallowed some snow" by Lucille Collandro and a winter snow poem. After the student segment, various reading awards were handed out. Then, the second quarter birthday book recipients were acknowledged. To conclude the afternoon, Mrs. Oberreuter announced an upcoming book recommendation project that will take place in the library.
Students in the Anthon elementary building took part in their second quarter Reading Celebration on Thursday, January 5th. The 4th and 5th grade classes started off the assembly by reading two timely poems, Hooray! Hooray! and Winter is Mine. Following the student presentation, reading awards were handed out to students. After the reading awards were announced, the students who received birthday books during the second quarter were acknowledged. Mrs. Oberreuter finished up the assembly by discussing the upcoming book recommendation project that the students will be working on in the library.
